HOW MUCH DOES A PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR COST?
HOW MUCH DOES A PRIVATE DETECTIVE COST?
These are the most frequently asked questions about our services and for sure, THE most important for our clients, quickly followed by “can you do the job?” and “are you confidential?”
The first thing to say is it costs nothing to talk. A good private investigator will provide unlimited time free and without obligation, either by speaking on the telephone or alternatively, they would meet you at any place of your choice, in order to discuss what is best for you. So there you are, it costs nothing to talk to one of our investigators.
For most people Private Investigators are not something they think about often and almost certainly, do not know what we do, therefore it is understandable that they can’t do a price match/comparison in their heads as they have nothing to compare against. For example, if someone was buying a loaf of bread, they would have a good idea of the range of prices they should be paying, but with an investigator?—— not so sure.
To give an example, if it is surveillance you require we need to know how long you need the surveillance for and this is where a good and honest private investigator will help you save money. We will advise how we can target the time more effectively and therefore reduce the cost to a minimum. It is very important to ask the private detective how they will go about the job and to get a fixed price quotation at the start. Example, if you need a simple trace for a person, address or telephone number, it could cost you as little as £89. Now that is clear and unambiguous and it should be made that clear by a private investigator or detective to prospective clients at early stage.
So what does it cost to hire a Private Investigator?
It almost certainly depends on what you want them to do, when you want them to do it and for how long you want them for. The problem for the general public is they don’t know the answer to these questions as they don’t know what it is we can do for them. There are many different ways we can undertake most cases.
Clearly our profession needs to be open about what we can and can’t do and provide some guide expectations relating to fees. In addition, we need to give a lot more exposure to our activities which will, in turn, clear away some of the mystique of thePrivate Investigator and Detective.
Most people probably still have a picture in their mind of a film or TV detective sitting at a desk with his feet up, drinking a large glass of whisky with a lady wearing an off the shoulder cocktail dress (Oh I do wish) and pandering to the “private dicks” every whim.
Todays Private Investigator is more likely to be a business savvy, technology geek with fantastic personal communication skills. We recognise that a Private Investigator or detective must come over to the public as a normal kind of person who can solve their problems or discover the information that they need.
We will advise how we can target the time more effectively and therefore reduce the cost to a minimum. A good private detectivewill advise you how things probably could be done differently, which almost certainly will keep the cost low.
But what does it cost? Well, we don’t give our clients, and they don’t want to receive, an open ended complicated fee structure such as X pounds an hour plus mileage plus expenses plus VAT and plus anything else we can think of. No, they like to obtain a fixed price quotation for the job and that’s what they get from us. No extras, nothing.
But how much does it cost? And Can I afford it? A simple surveillance case could cost £120. There, I have broken the code and our competitors now know some of our pricing structure. Fees are no big secret for us because it’s not all about what it costs, more importantly it’s about what you get for your money. You can’t put a price on peace of mind.
Seriously, it is very important to ask any Investigator how they would go about a particular job and could they provide a fixed price quotation, it’s very important to know this at the start.
It is probably worth saying that the sooner you start an investigation, whether you are a company or an individual, it often saves you money in the long run rather than waiting until the last minute. Our targets get more elusive and evasive the longer a situation goes on.
Private Detectives – More Than Simply Surveillance:
Finally, I would like to add that Investigators are not just about surveillance – that is only a small part of the services we offer. Think about any problem you have in your personal, working or business life and an investigator can probably help and it may just be the best decision you have made for a long time, both emotionally and financially. Remember, if you have a problem today and you do nothing about it: it will still be there in one, two or three months’ time and by then you will be even angrier. Don’t delay in starting to clear up your problems, with our private detective service.
